The Times, they are a changing

Chad over at Ace’s realm has an open blog piece up, and it’s just….. damn.
There once was a time when the NYT actually did real journalism. Now this is just getting stupid. The McCain camp and the Obama paper (that’s the New York Times, for you newbies) are having a little lovers spat, but McCain is throwing the real punches. Finally. Go over there and read the whole thing, but there is one part of it that I wish to dispute.
While it’s good to see a Republican standing up for himself in the press I don’t think McCain can really win this fight. The Times can print anything it wants and since it is still considered a highly reputable journalistic organization it will get greeted with the presumption of credibility by most people.
I bold because I love. I have to argue this. Most people in America don’t give a rat’s ass about the NYT, and those on the right certainly know it’s a liberal rag not even worthy to wrap most dead fish. Will the media follow the lead ? Of course. But this isn’t 1992. There are other ways to gather and distribute news these days. Will it get to more people than it should. Yeah, probably, but not as many will be influenced as in the past, and that ain’t nuthin’.
