My definition is listening to liberals try to explain that anything and everything that might be slightly unpleasant to our enemy- let me restate- our ENEMY, is torture. That is torture to me. It is painful, it is uncomfortable, and it’s not something I want to endure any longer.

Let’s dispense with this idiocy right off the bat here….. John McCain is against “torture”, even as the liberals define it. And John McCain is a man who knows torture. Bones broken repeatedly, regular beatings, horrific conditions, years with no care or freedom at all. That is what Senator McCain endured in Vietnam. That man knows torture. And he is against whatever mish-mash the liberals currently say torture is.

Guess what…. McCain is as wrong as wrong can be. This is really pretty simple.

Wearing a leash and being forced into a naked pyramid by a squirrely chick from the mountains of wherever is humilitating and degrading. That’s Ahu Grahib. That isn’t torture. Being in a chain-link cell in Cuba, with three-square (and religiously sensitive) meals a day, provided all the reading material and medical care you can imagine. That is Gitmo. That isn’t torture.

Standing up for hours at a time, living in poor climates (too hot, too cold), and being yelled at and intimidated. That’s having a friggin job. That isn’t torture. Being kept up for days on end, having emotional distress, and a deep and abiding uncertainty about your future. That’s being a parent. It’s not torture.

And anything that our soldiers have to go through in the course of regular training isn’t torture. If it was, every drill instructor or SERE trainer since 1953 should be brought up on charges against the UCMJ and federal charges of treason. That ain’t gonna happen. Know why ? It ain’t torture.

Getting your head cut off because you are an American ? Being blown up because you choose to dance in Tel Aviv ? Being stoned to death because you are a teenage girl who was gang-raped in Tehran ? Or maybe being castrated, having a hand chopped off, and then being shot in the head because your name is Abdul-Bruce bin Inhim and you wanted to steal a cute handbag from the Baghdad mall ? That is all torture.

What the hell happened to reason and common sense ?

It offends me more when Muslims want to kill millions of people (as a few of them do), but I’m kinda sensitive that way.

Have ya ever noticed that conservatives seem to have a constant struggle with reflective thought ? That is an affliction that the liberals never seem to suffer. We are not thrilled with the specter of a McCain presidency, but we are thankful he is a serious man as opposed to the boy-child that is Obama.

We needed a Bush presidency to head off the peril a Gore administration would have presented. Just look at the nutcase Gore has turned out to be. Imagine that growling bear dictating thermostat temperatures from 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Or don’t. You’re day will go better if you don’t.

But have the conservatives been glowing and gooey about Bush ? Hardly. He’s a good man, with a good heart, but at times has been dramatically wrong. Conservative see that, know it, and work through it. The Democrat herd is just that. Whatever, whenever, as long as it’s liberal and never leaves the fold. (see Leiberman, J.) I actually heard some moron (I’ll look it up later) a few weeks ago talk about energy policy, and in one sentence say that “more drilling won’t help bring down the price”, and in the next sentence say “we can’t do anything to effect the laws of supply and demand.” What part of increasing supply will effect supply and demand does this clown not get ? It was on Cavuto, and he sat there dumbfounded. I did the same. But I digress…..

I think historically President George Walker Bush will be treated just fine. And I am not the only one with such a perspective. I just was introduced to a very interesting new site (new to me, anyway), and this young lady definitely has her head screwed on right. Have a taste or two, will you ?

The majority of his [Bush's] achievements, however, will largely go unnoticed. For the man who currently sits in the highest office in the country and plays the most recognized role in global politics, George W. Bush will leave the White House alone and unpopular.

…

Bush came into office and shook things up following a horrific attack from the Middle East. It may take decades for the dust to settle, but eventually the fog surrounding an infamous presidency will clear to reveal a man who, stubborn in his unpopular ways, embraced the need to protect his nation from an evolving threat.

Yeah, no kidding. See, for most Americans that’s a helluva lot more important than whatever blather usually flows from Obama’s mouth. Hard to give a rip about all the political minutea if you’re, ya know, dead. For all of the conservative circumspection of the Bush years, we know that he did the most important thing right- he fought the terrorist enemy with resolve and dedication in the face of a ridiculous and childish chattering class of liberals and media (ERROR: Redundant) opposition. And for that, the future will smile (or at least grin) on his service in office.

UPDATE: Ok, that site may just be a clearinghouse of stuff. And it may not even be run by the quite attractive young lady with the pic up there in the corner, but the article is still good. I’ll figure out the rest later.
