A little reason, please?

A precious quote from the above-referenced article:
“Kathy McMahon, 49, of Mill Valley, Calif., was frantically helping her daughter stuff sunscreen, makeup, contact lens solution and other liquids into every corner of her half-dozen suitcases to be checked as she headed off to college. ‘I think it’s ridiculous,’ McMahon said. ‘But we’ll do it anyway. What are you going to do?’”
Kathy, with all due respect and compassion for your delay, the only thing more “ridiculous” than you having to put makeup, sunscreen, and contact lens solution into checked baggage would be your daughter getting blown into bits and pieces. Think about it.
When I was younger, I bought a bicycle. The salesman encouraged me to buy a helmet. “But I’ll look stupid,” I protested. He responded with precise, elegant logic by saying “yeah, you’ll look stupid, but you’d look even more stupid with your brains spilling out on the pavement.”
Good advice, in my opinion.
