McKinney is gone, but Congressional deadwood remains.

Sending this woman to the private sector should be the next priority of the American electorate.

Of course….

….this is the REAL reason she lost.

NOT!

Off the deep end. Off the charts. Missing some crucial DNA. A few cards short of a deck. Whacko. Blotto. Nuts. Loco. Need I go on?

Cynthia McKinney - clearly in the deep end of the pool without water-wings!

Maybe her recent loss drove her over the edge, or maybe it’s just the fact that her true colors are showing more obviously than ever. The footage on tonight’s O’Reilly Factor ought to be telling to everyone who believed her accusation against the Capitol Police, who supposedly “profiled” her. Here’s her non-commital statement on the whole affair:

“Congresswoman McKinney issues Apology on House Floor on Thursday, April 7: I come before this body to personally express, again, my sincere regret about the encounter with the Capitol Hill Police. I appreciate my colleagues who are standing with me, who love this institution and who love this country. There should not have been any physical contact in this incident. I have always supported law enforcement, and will be voting for H. Res. 756 expressing my gratitude and appreciation to the professionalism and dedication of the men and women of the U.S. Capitol Police. I am sorry that this misunderstanding happened at all and I regret its escalation. And I apologize.”

Ummm…yeah. OK.

Watching her defenders call journalists “m———— crackers” and “Zionists” just about made me hurl. Thank God the voters of her home state demonstrated the common sense needed to boot her big booty out of Congress.

More on this one when it hits the wires…

Don’t know about Sweden, but it works in Colorado!!!

One of our standards on the White River in Colorado. Humpys are great for fast-water flyfishing. Nice float, very visible. And I agree with the poster on this site:

“Not the easiest pattern to tie but well worth the effort. The Yellow, Red and Green variants will all prove to be worthwhile having in the fly box, whichever part of the world you may find yourself in.”

Definitely NOT the easiest pattern to tie. I’ve tried them, but I’ve pretty much resorted to buying them from the experts.

Easy to see on the surface, bound to get a rise…

My old man introduced me to this fly on a stream near Saratoga, Wyoming. He saw a rise, laid down a perfect cast, and hooked a nice 3 lb. rainbow. It’s an ugly thing…a crude looking fly, HUGE by fly standards, but he nailed a good-sized trout with it. His version didn’t have the orange coloring.

And then there’s this nonsense! “Badgering” the “Badgers.”

Now I’m convinced. Life on other planets really does exist, and Kevin Barrett may be the most prominent “ET” of all. Get a load of this:

“After the public realizes I’m right,” Barrett said, “my chances of getting a job will be better.”

Oh dear God!

As a proud representative of John Q. Public, I’m not buying it. In the words of Jack Nicholson, aka Melvin Udall, “go sell crazy somewhere else. We’re all stocked up here.”

Here’s the understatement of the year from Rep. Steve Nass, R-Whitewater, taken from the same article:

“The public knows it (9/11) wasn’t orchestrated by the government; it was a terrorist attack,” Nass said. “And for the provost to allow [Barrett] to teach this fall — fact and honesty just don’t matter.”

I guess not, Rep. Nass! Thanks for holding the torch on this one. Your stance earns you an honored link on TheTalkarena.

More fun: No pun intended, I’m sure, but UW-Madison’s Chancellor couldn’t have uttered a more hilarious pun:

“I don’t care what [Barrett’s] personal views are as long as he doesn’t use them to badger the students,” Wiley told The Badger Herald.”

Badgers getting “badgered?” Let’s hope not.

The point I’ve been trying to make…

Gotta love David Horowitz. I couldn’t have come close to making the point better myself. It’s not that Ward Churchill or Kevin Barrett shouldn’t be able to have and express their views. They should be forced, however, to examine their students’ knowledge of the subject matter without demanding unwavering adherence to the views they present in class. Here’s what Horowitz says:

“Indoctrination is the instilling of an ideology, as opposed to educating and opening minds. Clear indications of this would be the assignment of texts that exclusively support the doctrine and the exclusion of texts that criticize it. Or exams which feature controversial questions with only one right answer. Or grading systems that punish students for disagreements on controversial issues. I have referred to the assignment of Barbara Ehrenreich’s ideological screed Nickel and Dimed as indoctrination because it is the only text assigned in dozens of required freshman reading programs, not because it is an ideological screed. I have no objection to the assignment of Ehrenreich’s text as such.”

And here, Horowitz articulates my position beautifully:

“…I have never called for the firing of any professor on ideological grounds. Ever. I defended Ward Churchill at the height of the scandal. I did so in the Denver Rocky Mountain News, and criticized my friend Governor Bill Owens who was calling for Churchill’s head over his notorious Internet article. I would like to see universities enforce their existing academic freedom policies and professional standards. If faculty members continue to defy them, it is up to the universities to decide what action they will take. If any professor is fired for his political beliefs, I will be there defending him (or her).”

So, the point is not censoring political beliefs. The point is holding Professors accountable to the standards of academic freedom by ensuring that students have the freedom to disagree. And I won’t hold his defense of Ward Churchill against him.
