The BIG question….

Posted in Politics at 12:04 pm by JB

Why is everything the Democrats despise two things simultaneously:

Everything they hate are the very engines that makes this country work and innovate and succeed.

And everything they hate is BIG. BIG business. BIG oil. BIG pharmaceutical companies.

I’d turn the tables and complain more about the things that really hurt this country. BIG unions. BIG education lobby. BIG government.

The idea of making something BIG is to make the individual feel small, that they are up against a behemoth machine that is out to crush them. In reality, the things the Dems hate that they call BIG are organizations of individuality, freedom, and choice. They things they embrace are top-down, monolithic freedom-stealers that they hope to have transfer the power of the individual over to the organizations they control.

I just got a silly-ass email from “Gov. Howard Dean”. I get these things all the time, and they make me laugh and cry at the same time.

This one is declaring the great and glorious unions. Has anyone asked Governor Dean why all the overly-unionized companies are laying off workers left and right ? Could it be that the unions demand such draconian and anti-capitalist pay, benefit, and retirement packages that the companies just can’t afford it anymore ?

These are the kinds of policies and directives that come from a class of people who believe only government can solves problems, and only organizations as ineffective as government can be effective. It’s sad. It’s dangerous. And unfortunately too many people believe it and buy into it.

God help us all.

Finally…the Rams show up…big time.

Hallelujah!

CSU’s Messiah - Jason Smith - played like a total stud in the Border War (basketball version). What a great game. Not just a double-double, but a HUGE double-double. 20+ rebounds and a couple of monster dunks. I’m a proud Ram fan tonight. The Rams played like they should have played the entire season, despite the show put on by Wyoming’s two incredible guards - best tandom in the country, in my view.

Huge win for us Ram fans.

This is just funny….

The Dems are starting to turn on themselves. I highlight the portion that is important.

Clinton Communications Director Howard Wolfson issued the following statement today demanding that Barack Obama disavow personal attacks that his campaign finance chair made against Senator Clinton in this morning’s New York Times:

“While Senator Obama was denouncing slash and burn politics yesterday, his campaign’s finance chair was viciously and personally attacking Senator Clinton and her husband.

“If Senator Obama is indeed sincere about his repeated claims to change the tone of our politics, he should immediately denounce these remarks, remove Mr. Geffen from his campaign and return his money.”……

It’s not about policy or style… it’s about friggin MONEY. As usual, the pro-”campaign finance” crew is bitching and moaning about someone getting something that they should have…. not for democracy. No no no no no. This has never been about democracy. In fact, it is, on it’s face, in direct conflict with the first amendment.

It’s about power. It’s about “sway”. It’s about Hillary thinking she had a toe-hold on that Hollywood cash and she’s pissed that someone else is getting it.

(once you get the image of Hil’s toes out of your mind I’ll continue)

Funny thing is, though… Geffen has billions to throw around. 2300 here, 2300 there. He can cover his bases. The people who get screwed are the people who have 100 or 200 to give to one and only one candidate. They have to make tough decisions to decide where they want the country to go.

George Soros can funnel 30 million into Dem coffers. I can’t funnel 30 cents at the moment. And Mr. Camp-Fin himself, McCain, has opted out of the system for the primaries. Why ? Too restrictive, and it’d keep him from winning.

We live in a screwed up world, my friends.

But Hil is pissed because someone said something mean about her. She’s a swindler and a con. She’s a socialist and a grubber. She’s a poor speaker and a poorer policy-maker.

And she’s the better person of the two Clintons. But she has as much chance getting elected president as I do. She’s melting down with almost Edwards-type rigor.

A little consistency….

Posted in Politics at 5:27 pm by JB

Since the Democrats have such lofty ideas about how to run a war, and now hold the reins of power…. as they take great pride in their unwavering consistency in opposing a failed mission, and now want to cut-off funding for a plan that has “failed miserably”….

I ask them to continue their unblemished record of consistency.

Here, free of charge, I offer a few suggestions, and demand we stop funding a few other miserable federal failures….

  • Department of Education
  • The “Welfare State”
  • FEMA
  • Federal Election Commission
  • Federal Communications Commission
  • National Endowment for the Arts
  • Corporation for Public Broadcasting
  • Social Security Administration

I’m sure there are others, and your comments and additions are of course welcome.

Oh… if we really wanted to de-fund the most miserable failure in foreign and domestic policy in the last few decades, there is one great place to start…. CONGRESS.
