Newt had an affair while S-of the-H

Is this really a surprise ? When I heard he had gotten divorced and was dating a staffer I pretty much took it as a given that he was messing around in the late 90’s. I know it seems to be a story for the media, and will turn-off some conservative purists, but really….

As Kate O’Beirne quipped on NRO a few months ago, of all the GOP front-runners the only one who has only been married to one woman is the Mormon.

How much does it really matter ? I don’t know. But as of yet there has only been one president, in all the glorious history of this country, who has been divorced. And it was Ronald Wilson Reagan, who is still the deserved stud of the conservative movement, and his past marital difficulties didn’t seem to have much effect. I think even Mondale’s wife voted for him.

It’s not the personal lives that hurt you. It’s the lack of ideas. Newt has ideas. He has more ideas than the rest of the GOP slate put together, really. Can he get elected ? Again, I don’t know. I welcome his entry into the race, because he will make it intelligent, and take this silly-ass stuff out of the gutter.

A word or two about the “DC Madam”

Mostly I could not possibly care less about this stupid story. If this list gets released there will be politicians and journalists, lobbyists and jurists on the list, I’m sure, and that will be their cross to bear.

That said, I’m a little heartened to know that at least a few times these people pay for services themselves, and don’t use my tax dollars, when they start f’ing people.
