Oooops
On that post earlier about American Idol…. I forgot about Carrie Underwood. She’s done pretty well.
Politics, culture, and whatever else crosses our NOVA minds
On that post earlier about American Idol…. I forgot about Carrie Underwood. She’s done pretty well.
but it’s kinda funny…. The GOP is taking on Rosie O’Donnell.
Is this a huge surprise ? You knew she was a lib, guys. The only conservative on the show is Hasselback, and she gets shouted down constantly.
This show will be gone soon, because the ratings suck, and even stupid women don’t want a gab-fest. Smart women certainly don’t.
And now’s he get’s to spend some time in a Mexican prison….
MSNBC has learned that U.S. officials have arrested TV reality star Duane “Dog” Chapman and two family members in Hawaii for extradition to Mexico.
Chapman’s wife told MSNBC’s Rita Cosby that heavily armed U.S. marshals arrived at the family’s house today and took away Chapman, his brother, Tim, and son, Leland.
…
In 2003, the Chapmans went to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico to retrieve Max Factor heir Andrew Luster, who was wanted in the U.S. on rape charges.
Bounty hunting is considered a crime in Mexico.
At that time, Mexican prosecutors maintained that Luster’s capture violated their sovereignty.
The Chapmans each could face up to 8 years in prison if they are returned to Mexico and convicted on kidnapping charges.
Luster is now in jail, serving a 124-year term, but at the time, the Chapmans were also jailed by Mexican authorities for a brief time three years ago.
The three returned to the United States after posting bail of their own.
Wow… a bail-jumping bounty hunter. The irony.
The Dem leadership in the Senate is threatening the broadcast license of ABC if they air that movie…

Mr. Robert A. Iger
President and CEO
The Walt Disney Company
500 South Buena Vista Street
Burbank CA 91521Dear Mr. Iger,
We write with serious concerns about the planned upcoming broadcast of The Path to 9/11 mini-series on September 10 and 11. Countless reports from experts on 9/11 who have viewed the program indicate numerous and serious inaccuracies that will undoubtedly serve to misinform the American people about the tragic events surrounding the terrible attacks of that day. Furthermore, the manner in which this program has been developed, funded, and advertised suggests a partisan bent unbecoming of a major company like Disney and a major and well respected news organization like ABC. We therefore urge you to cancel this broadcast to cease Disney’s plans to use it as a teaching tool in schools across America through Scholastic. Presenting such deeply flawed and factually inaccurate misinformation to the American public and to children would be a gross miscarriage of your corporate and civic responsibility to the law, to your shareholders, and to the nation.
The Communications Act of 1934 provides your network with a free broadcast license predicated on the fundamental understanding of your principle obligation to act as a trustee of the public airwaves in serving the public interest. Nowhere is this public interest obligation more apparent than in the duty of broadcasters to serve the civic needs of a democracy by promoting an open and accurate discussion of political ideas and events.
Disney and ABC claim this program to be based on the 9/11 Commission Report and are using that assertion as part of the promotional campaign for it. The 9/11 Commission is the most respected American authority on the 9/11 attacks, and association with it carries a special responsibility. Indeed, the very events themselves on 9/11, so tragic as they were, demand extreme care by any who attempt to use those events as part of an entertainment or educational program. To quote Steve McPhereson, president of ABC Entertainment, “When you take on the responsibility of telling the story behind such an important event, it is absolutely critical that you get it right.”
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA !!!!
This is ridiculous, and the almost reflexive action to protect the legacy of Clinton, and to protect their own electoral potential, is hilarious. I think the boy-who-cried-wolf routine has been played enough by these idiots.
Frankly, that ABC and Disney would consider airing a program that could be construed as right-wing political propaganda on such a grave and important event involving the security of our nation is a discredit both to the Disney brand and to the legacy of honesty built at ABC by honorable individuals from David Brinkley to Peter Jennings. Furthermore, that Disney would seek to use Scholastic to promote this misguided programming to American children as a substitute for factual information is a disgrace.
Could be constued…. I could construe everything Jennings every did as left-wing, and quite a bit of Disney/ABC policy is left-wing…
Sincerely,
Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid
Assistant Democratic Leader Dick Durbin
Senator Debbie Stabenow
Senator Charles Schumer
Senator Byron Dorgan
Yeah…. those are some reasonable people. Surprised Durbin didn’t equate the Disney and ABC executives to Pol Pot.
This is getting funnier by the day.
on the back-story of this documentary than in the documentary itself.
An upcoming TV mini-series about the origins of the Sept. 11 plot is provoking angry complaints from Democrats about the portrayal of the Clinton administration’s response to terrorism.
Methinks thou dost protest too much.
My favorite parts involve our good friend Sandy Berger.
A statement from Samuel “Sandy” Berger, who was national security adviser to President Bill Clinton at the time, calls the scenes involving him “complete fabrications.”
…
“The incidents depicted did not happen,” said Berger in the statement. “They are not contained in the Sept. 11 Commission report, which is the most authoritative review of the events before and after the attack.”
Is this the same 9/11 commission that didn’t get to review the documents Berger stuck down his pants and subsequently “lost” ?
The film does paint a rather unflattering portrait of the incoming Bush administration — showing how they demoted White House counter-terrorism czar Richard Clarke, and failed to act against al-Qaida even after their responsibility for the November 2000 attack on the USS Cole became clear.
Not even sure what this means. Who was president in November of 2000 again ? For that matter, what administration and campaign made the results of the 2000 election unclear for almost 40 days ? Was that the distraction that prevented any response to the Cole attack ? I love watching the Clintonites squirm.
Stuck around on Fox, and am catching the brand new show “Standoff”… without giving away plot, let’s just say this…
I predict the folks at CAIR will be really upset.
Much like the boys over at BFLOBLOG.com track the comings and goings of “24″, I’ll be doing much the same with the TV show “House”- which premiers the next season tomorrow night.
Damn Fox has some good programming these days.
Hugh Laurie is a comic/acting master, and this show also features the lovely Jennifer Morrison, quite possibly the prettiest woman on television today.
Some CBS affiliates are afraid to show a 9/11 documentary because of potential reprecussions from the FCC.
Broadcasters say the hesitancy of some CBS affiliates to air a powerful Sept. 11 documentary next week proves there’s been a chilling effect on the First Amendment since federal regulators boosted penalties for television obscenities after Janet Jackson’s breast was exposed at a Super Bowl halftime show.
Can these clowns really not see the difference between a documentary on the most deadly terrorist attack in this country’s history, and Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson showing titties to spice up the Super Bowl ? I mean really…. this is just silly.
RE: the death of Steve Irwin…. there is a reason there is the common phrase “if you stick your head in the lion’s mouth”….
Mears said the Australian’s death was a tragedy and his heart went out to his family.
But he added that it proved “some things in nature should be left alone”.
He said: “He clearly took a lot of risks and television encouraged him to do that.
“It’s a shame that television audiences need that to be attracted to wildlife.
“Dangerous animals, you leave them alone because they will defend themselves. Nature defends itself, it isn’t all about hugging animals and going ‘ahh’.
But as JEG said, the hearts and prayers of the TTA staff go out to his wife, his two children, and family and friends.
