This isn’t good news for the DNC. It IS good news for the country. (via Bob Novak….. I wonder if Richard Armitage gave him the information)
Lifetime Democratic contributors have made good on their threat to stop giving money to the Democratic National Committee (DNC) so long as Howard Dean is its chairman.
Some of the party’s longtime money men warned that would happen when Dean took over the DNC following the 2004 elections. Lower contributions, combined with Dean’s heavy spending, have resulted in the most recent cash-on-hand report by the DNC of $11.3 million, compared with $43.6 million at the Republican National Committee.
Disaffected Democrats keep giving to congressional committees. Current cash figures are $33 million at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and $35.1 million at the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.

And this is kinda sad, but it is a major reason for why they can’t win anything anymore. First of all, the email was titled “Conduct Unbecoming”. What the hell is that ? That is a military term, and the text of the mail makes no sense. This is an email, so it’s not linkable, but…. the latest Dean ridiculousness:
Here’s the question that the right-wing extremists who control the Republican Congress will put before the Senate:
“Over seven million Americans can have a raise of $2.15 an hour by raising the minimum wage, but only if we give a tax cut to 7,500 ultra-rich people at a cost of $753 billion dollars.”
Do these people not understand economics ? It’s really simple. When labor costs go up, the cost for everything else goes up. The price for food, for gas, for consumer products… it all goes up. Why ? Because when the government increases prices by dictate, the people who own business raise their prices. This is Econ 101.
It’s despicable, it’s wrong, and we need to stop it.
Senate Republican Leader Bill Frist has said that this will be the only vote he will allow on a minimum wage increase this year.
Enough is enough. Contact your Senators and tell them to reject this shameful bill by signing this petition:
REDACTED
Democrats have been fighting for a minimum wage increase, but Republicans won’t allow a straight up-or-down vote on it.
Now Frist and his right-wing allies say they will allow a vote on the minimum wage — but only in the form of a bill that includes a huge giveaway to ultra-wealthy Republican donors.
Which sucks because now, with all these wealthy people making 7 bucks an hour, they can’t….. wait… this makes no sense.
Do people making minimum wage own businesses ? I’ve owned a business, and trust me, I made a LOT less than minimum wage. I worked my ass off. I wasn’t successful. I’ll try again another time.
I’ve also worked for corporations. I will be first in line to say that 50 a mil, or a 500 mil severence payout is ridiculous. But the people with the money are the people that employ other people. This isn’t some metaphysical realm… it’s just the way the world works.
We want folks to do well, but America shouldn’t have to sacrifice billions of dollars to give only a small group of millionaires a tax break while millions of hard working Americans - some with two or more jobs - are barely able to make ends meet.
That’s called life, Dr. Dean. Sometimes you have to work hard, not rely on daddy’s money, and go to med school so you can practice in Vermont and then save up enough to make a ridiculous run for president.
What’s more, the Republicans’ so-called minimum wage increase contains provisions that would actually strip wages from over a million people in seven states where they earn that state’s minimum wage in addition to their tips.
That last part is just a flat out lie. State minimum wages take precedence over federal wage laws, if they are higher. At this point the good Dr. Dean is just lying like a madman.
It’s called federalism, and while it’s a strange concept for Democrats, it’s really quite simple. The Feds set a minimum. States must meet that, but can increase it if they so choose. Minimum wage is a bad idea in the first place, but as long as it seems to be eternal, we may as well do it right.
Going to the subject of the post…. the Democrats don’t understand history… that’s part of the reason why they ARE history. They can have Berkley and the Bronx. The upper-west-side and south-side Chicago…. Boulder CO and the 38103 area code.
The rest of the country fights and struggles and doesn’t want the government to kiss our boo-boo and make it all better.
