Gitmo tactics on the Senate ?

Posted in Politics, Terrorists, War on Terrorism at 2:13 am by JB

Mark Steyn may be on to something here….

Almost every argument in this area isn’t “about” the war so much as whether there even is a war. As The Washington Post reported, “The Senate joined the House in embracing President Bush’s view that the battle against terrorism justifies the imposition of extraordinary limits on defendants‘ traditional rights in the courtroom.”

Well, they’re only “extraordinary” if you regard these men as traditional “defendants.” If you regard them as traditional wartime detainees — rather than O.J.s in turbans — the only “extraordinary” aspect of this is the kid gloves with which not just their Korans but the jihadists themselves are handled. This is the only war in American history in which enemy detainees have been freed before the end of hostilities. Of those released, at least 22 are known to have returned to the battlefield in Afghanistan, Pakistan and elsewhere.
The ones who remain are dangerous men, no matter how “sensitive” you are. They unscrewed the foot pads from those Asian-style toilets and used them as bludgeons to attack the guards. After listening to Pat Leahy’s contribution to the debate, I wonder if the Gitmo medical facility’s lavish team of mental health experts might not be more usefully deployed to the U.S. Senate.

HA !

In addition to being cute as a button…

Michelle Malkin is a brilliant columnist and a stand-up gal who isn’t afraid to call a spade a spade. Hat tip to her for the following link.

Not meaning to inflame this whole situation even more, but I have to say it again. You don’t protest the Pope’s ill-advised comments by killing Nuns!!!

Absolutely disgusting, unconscionable, and downright scary.

I really wish I had this much free time…

Doggone it. I never have enough time on my hands to riot in the streets over a simple, stupid comment by the Pope. Darn.

Of course, if I did, I’d be doing this. I’d rather flyfish than riot.

The Pope did say one thing that makes some sense.

“God,” the emperor, as the pope quoted, said, “is not pleased by blood — and not acting reasonably is contrary to God’s nature.”

Guess these chaps are screwed!

Yeah…. this is tolerance

More crazy Muslims

These are the faces of people demanding tolerance.

Has it ever occured to them to embrace modernity, start a business, build a family for purposes other than creating little suicide bombers ?

This is the “Arab street” you always hear about- and I don’t care about.

Why is it that Muslims can kill 3000 innocent Americans, and we are supposed to practice tolerance… on 9/11 Americans lit millions of flames, but they were on candles of prayer and remembrance….. the PLO/PLA Muslims danced in the streets.

The Pope says something- I repeat SAYS SOMETHING- and the Islamic fringe loses their mind. There is a fundamental disconnect here in the value of life and liberty.

This is the war against Islamic fundamentalist terrorism. And they don’t deserve negotiation, they don’t deserve dialogue… they deserve to be killed before they kill us.

If you can’t see it, you can’t be taken as a serious person. Sorry. Go to the back of the line.

Oh just hush already !!

Since when did these fanatic Islamists need any real reason to freak out ?

The furore over comments made by Pope Benedict about the Islamic concept of Holy War continues to grow. Today British Muslims joined in, fiercely criticising his remarks.

The pontiff was accused of falling into “the trap of bigots and racists” with the comments he made on a visit to Germany. More Crazy Jihadists

Better step up that security though…. remember this guy ?

Osama is the key ?

I’ve never understood the first part of this point, mostly trumpeted by liberals and the media (one and the same usually), but in this case made by Newt Gingrich:

Just consider the following: Osama bin Laden is still at large. Afghanistan is still insecure. Iraq is still violent. North Korea and Iran are still building nuclear weapons and missiles. Terrorist recruiting is still occurring in the U.S., Canada, Great Britain and across the planet.

We hear this a lot from Pelosi and Reid and Dean… But these are the same people that claim that by capturing or killing terrorists on the battlefield we just “create” more terrorists ? What is the magic bullet that catching OBL will serve ? We’ve captured or killed #2 men all over the planet, and this is poo-poo’ed as an insignificant event, and something that just causes more fanatics to join the cause against us. If we get the #1 guy is that some sort of phaser into the port-hole of the Death Star that all the sudden causes the entire system to collapse ?

“It’s been 5 years- FIVE years- and we still haven’t caught Bin Laden,” is a regular refrain from the DNC and their minions. It’s also been 5 years since we were hit on our own soil. Seems to me whatever strategy we’ve been using- Bin Laden dead/captured or not- seems to be working pretty damn well.

Another ignored act of war

Posted in Terrorists, War on Terrorism at 9:53 pm by JB

This is what terrorists do, and want to do more of with better rates of success.

A missile was fired at a helicopter escorting Sen. John McCain during a visit to the Republic of Georgia last week.

A statement from that nation’s interior ministry says the surface-to-air missile was aimed at a chopper involved in a visit of a U.S. Senate delegation to the former Soviet republic. McCain was mentioned as the leader of the group.

I hope the Secret Service

is all over this sort of idiocy.

When, exactly, did it become alright to advocate the assasination of a leader of a nation ?

I’m not even sure if there is a word to describe how repugnant this is. But I bet there is…. only it’s a language spoken only in the regions that practice the “religion of peace”.

Welcome to the party, Newt

Mr. Gingrich voices what most of us feel (or should).

Ex-U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich said Wednesday that the thought of California Rep. Nancy Pelosi becoming the next leader of the House and being third in line to the presidency is frightening.

“The prospect of her bringing San Francisco values and a whole attitude on foreign policy that is, I think, an attitude of weakness and appeasement and surrender, I think, would be a disaster for the country,” the outspoken Republican said.

We all know that. This is the kind of ridiculous tripe I am really getting tired of.

To suggest that “any Democrat is for appeasement is ridiculous” and “shows how desperate the Republicans are,” Pelosi spokesman Brendan Daly said. “We know we have a dangerous world out there,” he said, but “fear-mongering is not helpful to the situation.”

Fear-mongering….. is there not a legitimate threat ? Democrats ARE for appeasement. Negotiate, ameliorate, abdicate… (Most) Democrats don’t care about security. They care about regaining power. Fear-mongering isn’t happening, unless you are talking about the nut-cases who are terrified the country is gonna fall to pieces if the NSA listens to 10 seconds of your phone call to Pakistan.

There is a real threat, and the Democrats don’t take it seriously. There are millions of people determined to kill me and other Americans. THAT IS REAL.

And we’re gonna hear hours and hours of Democratic blather about “politicizing the war : politicizing security”. Is there another issue more important ? Of course it’s politics.

All your WalMart unions and universal health care don’t mean dick if some nut from Saudi Arabia kills you and everyone around you.

Ockam’s Razor (many other spellings)- the simple answer is usually the best answer. They want to kill us. We don’t want to die. Rather that dance around for decades like we have been, how about we protect ourselves, and kill them first.

UPDATE: Just another note on this… I’m getting tired of hearing “our soldiers are getting killed”. Every loss of life is a tragedy, but this is a damn war, and these men and women didn’t sign up to sell cars, for the love of God. The military isn’t a college scholarship program. When men and women sign up for the military they realize (or should) that they are putting their lives on the line for their country. That is their entire purpose. I wish we never lost any in combat, but we do, and that is their job. If you want to go to college, vote Republican so we can fix the schools and you can get an academic scholarship. If you join the military thinking it’s a college scholarship program, you should go smack your teachers. That’s not how military service works.
